Peninsula Access Support and Training, or P.A.S.T. as we are better known, is a non profit, Community Service Organisation dedicated to providing services and support to people with disabilities in the Southern Metropolitan Region.
P.A.S.T.'s mission is to ensure that all people are accepted as individuals, are treated with dignity and respect, and are included in activities and events of everyday life and that the general population enjoys. P.A.S.T. offers a range of services over 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Individuals can access day service activities via one of our sites in Frankston, Cranbourne, Langwarrin, and Hastings or they can be supported in their own homes or directly in the community. People can register as learners in any of our ten Adult Education Courses and if eligible, go on one of 26 respite holidays based on the Mornington Peninsula. This is in addition to the Organisation providing an extensive transport system to support people to and from the many and varied activities. P.A.S.T. began in 1992 and has grown to become one of the leading and progressive disability organisations in the Region. The Organsiation is involved in many projects, with our most recent one involving a partnership with Frankston City Council and the Department of Human Services to develop a "shop front" public toilet facility in the Frankston CBD. The new facility will not only cater for the general public, buthin the disabled toilets themselves, there will be adult change and hoist facilities for those individuals who require it. This facility is a first for the state and possibly the Country. Another partnership project is the 'Peninsula Access Calendar'. P.A.S.T. together with Frankston City Council and Mornington Peninsula Shire Council have come together over the last three years to produce a free calendar showcasing the beauty and wonder that Frankston and the Peninsula has to offer. This year, the Department of Human Services, the Mornington Peninsula Aboriginal Support and Development Team and the Peninsula Koorie Art Group have joined the partnership to produce 'Peninsula Access 2008'. It features twelve beautiful art works especially created by the Koorie Art Group for this year's edition. P.A.S.T. recently celebrated its 15th birthday and celebrated with a lovely dinner and dancing at its Langwarrn site. The evening was attended by over 150 people and marked the collective effort and success the Ornganisation and all involved has achieved over the years.
